Are you ready to bring these Easter printables to life, but not sure where to start? With a little creativity and a splash of color, you can turn each page into something truly special. Below is my favorite illustration from this series, which I have colored in. I have also included tips throughout, which I hope inspire you to create pages that are not only beautiful, but meaningful too.
Beautiful Floral Happy Easter
When I was designing this coloring page, I wanted the focus to be on the feeling of Easter celebration rather than on a specific character or animal. So I made the lettering “Happy Easter” the main subject. The text is kept large, rounded, and centered to give it a friendly feel and also make it easy for little artists to color.
The flower bed below is used to frame the illustration. The idea of adding butterflies, sparkles and clouds around the text was to guide the viewer’s attention across the page and to balance the composition making it lively and full without the feeling of being crowded. Overall, I wanted to make the illustration feel bright, festive, and full of vibrant Easter energy.
When coloring this page, I started with the “Happy Easter” banner and used a joyful rainbow gradient. Just make sure to use the colors in order to avoid harsh contrasts.
The flowers are colored in a mix of bright yet soft colors, like pink, yellow, purple, and blue, to give a spring garden in full bloom. I also added slight shades to the greens of the plants. A light sky blue hue with soft gradient is used for the background to create a calm contrast against the cheerful foreground.
The colourful butterflies are used to pop vibrant energy. Balancing the whole illustration, feeling playful yet harmonious.
If you are going to color this page it gives a wide variety of options to experiment with including gradients, layering, and textures.
Starting with the lettering, since it’s the main focus, you can create a rainbow gradient, using two or more colors and blending them. For example, begin with yellow at the top and slowly transition into pink or purple at the bottom.
With the flowers, you can use different shades of the same color to give depth and variations. Use a lighter shade of your preferred color and gradually go ahead by adding darker tones near the base of each petal, blending upward. This will make the flowers look more natural rather than looking like a flat object.
If you want to play with textures, try adding some lines or strokes along the petal to give the feel of veins or use small dots at the centre of the flower to make it more detailed. For the leaves, you can try short upward strokes in different green shades or try subtle cross-hatching in shadow areas to give extra depth.
Just remember to take your time and enjoy the process. Coloring isn’t about being perfect, it’s about expressing yourself, your creativity and having fun.
